Fire breaks out at South Kingstown auto repair shop

SOUTH KINGSTOWN, RI — A fire broke out at a South Kingstown auto repair shop on Tuesday afternoon, the city’s Union Fire Department said. Two other local services were called to put out the flames from the business on Route 2.

Kingston station firefighters were called in to assist the Union Department, as well as the Exeter water tanker. The flames erupted between the building’s roof and ceiling, the department said, and were stopped from spreading further by the quick work of fire crews.

“We thank our mutual aid partners in Kingston and Exeter for helping to respond to yesterday’s fire, and we commend all firefighters involved for their quick and efficient response,” Chief Steven Pinch said.
