Kia is about to introduce its first electric car in India and it is the EV6. It would be a premium crossover and priced as a full import with limited numbers for the Indian market. Reservations for the car would start soon as only a few Kia dealers would sell the EV6. Only a few cities would get the EV6 through a single Kia dealership, with just 100 units allocated to India. Therefore, the EV6 would be a premium electric vehicle to show off what Kia can do rather than being a volume product.
In terms of price, being an import, the EV6 would cost around Rs 55 lakh more depending on the variants, while we expect the Indian spec EV6 to come well equipped with all the top features. India will get the 77.4 kWh long-range battery which is expected to deliver a range of almost 530 km, while the dual-motor or single-motor version can come with different power outputs.

Another headline is the 800V charging capability, which means the EV6 can be charged from 10-80% battery charge in just 18 minutes. This is done via the fast DC charger.
Other highlights include six levels of regenerative braking, a flat floor with a large amount of space inside with 990mm of legroom as well as features like two curved 12.3 high definition widescreen displays inches, an augmented reality HUD, a 14-speaker Meridian Surround Sound System, flush door handles, and more.
Worldwide, the EV6 has a huge demand and the allocation for the Indian market is currently limited due to factors such as demand and shortage of chips. At that price, the EV6 would be a premium electric car with no rivals yet.
The EV6 is based on the brand new Global Electric Modular Platform (E-GMP) specifically designed for electric vehicles.
